A BLOT ON THE LANDSCAPE; Mar y Golf, Manilva
We bought our house in Manilva on the Costa del Sol three years ago. At the time we enjoyed wonderful, uninterrupted views of the beautiful church (one of the oldest in Spain), the surrounding neighbourhood and out over the vineyards.
Lo and behold, a year later, in moved the diggers, cranes, and another set of developers and promptly built another apartment block right in front of us. No matter, this is Spain after all and I still love my house. With such a busy life I never got to appreciate the view (or non view!!) anyway.
This new development is called “Mar Y Golf” and is now finally finished. The roads and infrastructure surrounding the urbanisation are now all in place and to be honest it looks quite nice. I heard on the grapevine (there’s lots of them in Manilva!), that the license of first occupation has now been granted which means that the new owners will be moving in soon.
There is a plot of land on front of Mar Y Golf that has been cleared and rumour had it that this was going to be a park. At the moment, that’s as far as it’s got, still on rumour stage.
The other day, I took a stroll along the new roads with the dog just to be nosey and I was so disappointed with what I saw. As I said, the actual development looks really nice however, why do builders have to dump unused building materials and waste on the area of cleared land. It seems to have given everyone free reign to use this area as a dumping ground with general litter filling in the gaps between the bricks, pipes and tubing that has been left there. There really is no excuse and it sets such a bad example. There are plenty of bins in Manilva town and Manilva council positively encourage us to re-cycle. I’m sure it will be cleared eventually and I urge the new community of Mar Y Golf to push for it to be done sooner rather than later. Why should the selfish actions of the minority spoil the enjoyment of your new home?
